Ebony Thomas and Kim Maxwell each placed in the top-five in two events to lead the Army track and field team at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Half of the Army team competed at Pennsylvania while the remaining half traveled to the Auburn Track Classic in Alabama.
Thomas, a sophomore from Philadelphia, posted a third-place showing in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.24 seconds and a fifth-place showing in the 200-meter dash in 25.60 seconds.
Maxwell, a senior captain, placed third in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.20 meters (10-06) and place fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.57 meters (5-01.75).
Sophomore Kim Mallard claimed a third-place showing in the hammer throw with a toss of 45.68 meters (149-10). She was joined by fellow sophomore Taneshina Wright, who placed fourth with a throw of 45.59 meters (149-07).
Also posting a top-five showing for the women was senior Brittany Greene in the javelin. Greene landed a throw of 37.74 meters (123-10) to place fourth in the event.
The lone top-five showing for the Army men's team came from senior Mario Bullock. Bullock clocked an Army season best of 54.33 in the 400-meter hurdles to place fifth.
The Black Knights return to action at home next Friday with the annual Army-Navy meet. The women's competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Shea Stadium with the men following at 2:30 p.m.
