Comments on the Meet:

It was hot! Really, really hot! I'm not sure why the times were slower than we've seen on the course in the past, but I do know that it was a blazer out there. So that means we need to keep that in mind when comparing our times to times from last year on this course. Actually times seem to compare closer to the Flathead Invitational meet more than anything else. Oh well, I guess we'll need to wait until Mtn. West before we can enjoy crazy fast times.

As it was, we'll need to be content with outstanding performances when looking at how we competed against the rest of the field. The biggest news may be the addition of several new runners to the boys team. Finally the necessary practices have been covered and we are looking closer to the team that we will have for the season. Perhaps the brightest highlight for the boys may be that of sophomore Nathan Knox. In his first race he moved his way through the field to finish very well. Daniel Riviera did a good job in the second seven race, as he led the field through the first mile before settling in to his race pace. Both have earned their way onto the varsity for our next race in Missoula.

Drew Coco had another great race with his sub 16 clocking. He won by nearly a minute and looked very good while doing it. Patrick McGunagle ran another good race as well. Smart pacing helped him to finish ahead of rivals that were ahead of him last weekend. The rest of the boys team looks to be improving as well.

For the girls team, again the big news may be that of the pack. Our top five looked pretty dominating coming down the finishing stretch in places 2-3-4-5-6 against some strong competition. Of course, Loni and Stella looked their usual great, but Jackie Cassidy really showed that she may not be content with sitting in third as she narrowed the gap on the top two. Bailey and Jess both looked strong as they rounded out the scorers for the team. Natalie and Kelly both finished strong as well for the top seven squad.

In Second Seven action, Hannah Weaver and Elizabeth Stevenson both ran great in finishing 1-2. Only five seconds separated the two at the finish line. Anne and Megan both ran strong also to help the team to win the JV team title.
